Why Stay At Frenchman's Lookout
During a stay at one of Frenchmans' nine cottages in the British Virgin Islands, it's possible to pass the day taking in the breathtaking water views without seeing another soul.
The Scoop
Located on the tip of Frenchman's Cay—a tiny island on the west end of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, about a two hour flight from Miami—the nine-cottage Frenchmans resort offers an ultra-private Caribbean hideaway feel. Each residence has a sumptuous name—Passion Fruit, Star Fruit, or Lime, for example—that matches its tropical interior, with rattan and Balinese furniture, ceiling fans, tile floors, and vibrant original artwork.
Furnished with its own kitchen and balcony, each one- or two-bedroom cottage has spectacular water views. There's a pool and a tennis court on the leafy nine-acre property, and snorkeling off the resort's palm-tree lined private beach, which is considered one of the best locations on the island.
The tiny marina town of Soper's Hole is just a seven-minute walk, with fine dining, nightlife, a spa, and provisions nearby.
Insider Tips
Ask to take out one of the resort's free kayaks for a paddle around the bay's sheltered waters.
With a call to the concierge before your arrival, your kitchen and fridge can be pre-stocked with anything from wine and beer and fine cheeses to basics like milk—all from the local provision store that supplies incoming yachts at Soper's Hole. (A full list of supplies is available.)
Preferred Airport
Arrive at Terrence B. Lettsome International Airport (EIS) which is approximately 17 miles from the hotel. Anticipate about 30 minutes of travel time.
