Located in the northwest on the Pacific Ocean, Guanacaste is known for its warm climate, incredible bird
watching, excellent surfing and snorkeling and beautiful beaches. The coast is indented with bays, peninsulas, and there a significant number of protected areas, including coastal ,mountainous, terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems where life develops with exuberance.
Guanacaste’s climate is in total contrast to the rest of the country. It is the driest region of Costa Rica, with
a mixture of forests, beaches, extensive plains and an impressive volcanic range. From November through April, the plains and rolling hills receive no rain, but in wet season, everything turns gree.
No region of Costa Rica displays its cuktural heritage as overtly as Guanacaste. Life here revolves around the horse and cattle ranch. Guanacaste has been called Costa Rica's Wild West, and sabaneros (cowboys)
are common.
