Pylos, Greece

Pylos is a stylish town located in the province of Messinia, conveniently positioned on one of Greece’s finest natural harbours in Navarino Bay. Many locals and tourists take pleasure in exploring the town’s hillside alleys, waterside streets, and fortresses.

Just 16km north of Pylos is the Palace of Nestor – a fabulous starting point for explorers of the Peloponnese. This palace was discovered in 1939 and is the best-preserved Mycenaean palace today, consisting of four main buildings and 105 ground floor apartments.

Other town highlights include its beautiful public spaces, such as the Platia Trion Navarhon, surrounded by shops and cafes, and the Néo Kástro, a massive castle built by the Turks in 1572, which served as a prison for much of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries.
