The Look

Flashy restaurants often spring from boutique hotels. In this case the restaurant — carnivore’s den Prime One Twelve — came first, and the 14-room hotel followed seven years later as a quasi-clubhouse for its most ardent fans. The modern building, which is perched on a corner one block back from the beach in swanky South Pointe, feels like an intimate, modern pied-à-terre, with slick white-on-white minimalism mixed with an urban loft vibe.

Bed and Bath

Floor-to-ceiling windows flood the 14 open-plan rooms with Florida sunshine, adding warmth to the clean-lined white and chrome furniture. A green shag rug here, a vintage poster there, and a plush upholstered headboard add coziness. Bachelor-pad style bathrooms have black and gray faux crocodile walls and multijet showers.

Beyond

The bar and restaurant space acts as overflow for hot table Prime One Twelve (keep your eyes peeled for celebs). For a piece of the VIP action, take the elevator to the fourth floor and snag a cabana by the rooftop pool. Flat-screen TVs and bottles of Voss water will keep you entertained and hydrated, and if hunger calls, dial up a platter of kobe sliders.

In the Area

The South Pointe neighborhood (“SoFi” to locals) may feel low-key, but it’s home to some of the city’s most expensive condos and boldfaced names. Join them on the quiet stretch of beach a two-minute walk from the hotel or ogle their megayachts at the Miami Beach Marina, a five-minute walk away. Splurge on porterhouse steak for two at the hotel’s restaurant, Prime One Twelve, or sample the company’s other hip area restaurants, Prime Italian and nouveau diner Big Pink. You’re likely to run into a Kardashian or two, there or at their boutique, Dash, a few blocks north on Washington Avenue. If you want a bit of the Miami party action, skip across the street to Nikki Beach, where the party lasts from brunch to sunrise.
